The City of Montreal has mandated Groupe Rousseau Lefebvre, in collaboration with Vinci Consultants, for the realisation of a preliminary project seeking to manage, in an ecological way, stormwater from Papineau Avenue over the stretch along the Saint-Michel Environmental Complex.

Over this 2 kilometer-long stretch, the street and surroundings stormwater would be managed without any flow emissions to the existing storm sewer for a hundred year event. Stormwater would be diverted toward a vegetated median and a lateral planted strip. Established according to the Best Management Practices, the design will allow stormwater sedimentation, pretreatment and treatment that will improve water quality prior to its infiltration in the soil. Implementing this project will lead to the creation of the Main demonstration site for sustainable stormwater management in Canada.

As an effective demonstration site we implemented a wide range of Best Management Practices. Monitoring is also proposed to study how the various element and installation work and to obtain data that could influence future projects.
